Tasting notes:
'A Chardonnay that spends 11 months on its lees in a cool cellar, with partial malolactic, this is a floral, perfumed style showing subtle oak integration, lime and grapefruit notes and a fresh finish. Drink 2018-22.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 93/100

'Faint notes of lemon peel, bitter melon rind and a touch of straw dance lightly on the nose of this wine. The palate is similarly light and bright, with soft wood spice and toasted-apple flavors, as well as a good dose of orange oil. There's a hint of green apple and plum flavor as well, lending lift and verve to the palate and medium-length finish.' – Wine Enthusiast, 90/100

Alc: 13.34% | RS: 1.8 g/L | TA: 6.9 g/L | PH: 3.54

About Hartenberg Wine Estate:
Hartenberg is situated in its own self-contained valley on the slopes of the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch. It was created 30 years ago and has come a long way since its original poor parcel of dry gravelly soil. It was Carl Schultz, Hartenberg’s Winemaker, who saw the potential in ‘The Gravel Hill’ and noted the superiority of the grapes that were grown there. Hartenberg was thus one of the first South African estates to separately vinify grapes from a particular terroir.

The 170-hectare property has a pure water source running through it, and a number of birds and animals which call Hartenberg their home. As such, the owners and staff have accepted responsibility for the conservation of the property through considered and sustainable use of all natural resources. They have various initiatives in place to ensure an environment where nature thrives.
